¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2009-2010 en Holt elemental! Haga clic aquí para ver esta página en español. August 25, 2009 Parents, Welcome to Holt Elementary for the 2009-2010 school year. I take great pride in being the principal of Holt Elementary School and look forward to another great school year. The teachers, staff and students have worked very hard to give our school the recognition it so deserves. We touched up the paint this past summer therefore; we will work together to keep it clean and fresh all year long. I am sad to say that we did not make Adequate Yearly Progress this past year. We will continue to work very hard with our students. The standards are actually rising so we must push even harder this school year. We will need your help at home as we work hard at school in trying to ensure all children are prepared for the next grade level. I encourage you to stay in close contact with your child's teacher and develop a close working relationship. Our school day will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day. If your child arrives at school after 8:00 a.m. they will be marked tardy. With our computer check in/out system you must come inside to check your child in when they are late. Please make every effort to have your child at school on time. Our students will be in a 2 hour protected reading block from 8:15-10:15 a.m. each day. There will be no interruptions during this time. Please make sure your child reads each night. We have extended our school day until 2:40 p.m. Our teachers are teaching to the end of each day. To keep from interrupting the teachers at the end of the day we will not allow check-outs after 2:15 p.m. unless it is an extreme emergency. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. We are continuing of theme of "Our Community of Learners" which coincides with our reading series "StoryTown". We are striving to develop community relationships within our school and also with those outside of school. The Holt Community Vision was established two years ago in attempts to get playground equipment, a track, revitalize the basketball court, develop a pavilion area and create playing fields in the back of the school. We have accomplished Phase I and Phase II, now we are working toward completing Phase III, which will be constructing a pavilion area. We will need your help when fundraising efforts begin. We are continuing our Positive Behavior Support discipline plan. Each morning we recite the school pledge that reminds everyone what is expected of them. All students are encouraged to be kind and respectful to promote good behavior at school. A safe environment is essential in providing a solid learning environment. I want students to know that I care about them, but we all have rules we must follow. Feel free to call or come by the office if you have wishes, concerns or suggestions. I look forward to you being a part of the team. Sincerely, Debbie Crawford Principal
